Singapore moves to cool real estate speculation

With immediate effect, banks and developers will not be allowed to offer loans on homes under construction where the borrower need only put down as little as a 5 per cent cash downpayment and defer repayment of the principal until after building is completed. 
The government also said it will reinstate its "confirmed list" of land sales in the first half of 2010 and increase the supply of land available to developers.

Property in Italy - The Market to stabilize in 2010

The report shows that residential sale volumes decreased by 15.1% in 2008 and the strongest decrease started last October, after the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers. To be affected by the crisis are also the prices of properties for sale in Italy , although without the free fall which has been registered in the markets in Europe and in the US, that, for the first time after a decade, have decreased by 2.2% for new properties and 2.4% for resale properties.

US property market still looking for its foreign investors

Property sales to foreign buyers dropped 9.4% in the year ending in May to 154,000, according to the NAR report.
Lack of finance and banks continuing to be tight about credit could be one reason, the report says. Of those who did purchase, almost half paid cash for their property because securing a mortgage was more difficult than before, according to the report.
‘It's at least three times more difficult for foreign buyers to get financing than it is for US citizens who have all the right documentation and good credit,’ said Madison Hildebrand, a Coldwell Banker real estate agent in Malibu, California.

Short term Investment in chinese property market not advisable

Chinese share prices reached a peak in 2007, and since then many of them have dropped around half their value.We know that usually, the general economy and property development and investment is intimately linked, so this does not bode well for China property development. We can see companies closing branches around the country, and a sharp increase in the number of homes and sites for sale, along with a resulting drop in prices. These factors combined make it seem that a market crunch in China is on the cards for the next year.
